Make sure your email and phone number with NIMA are up-to-date to ensure you receive the supports NIMA has available.
Applications for MNBC's COVID-19 support funding are now open. You must create an account with MNBC to apply for the funding. Make sure you have your MNBC card to register. Programs available are Post-Secondary Education Support Grant, COVID-19 Utility Supplement., Education Technology Support Grant (for K-12), COVID-19 Rent Supplement and COVID-19 Emergency Shelter Application. Details are available once you sign in.
Online applications open Dec 18th for the BC Recovery Benefit. This is a one-time, tax-free payment of up to $1,000 for eligible families and single parents and up to $500 for eligible individuals. Benefit eligibility is based on net income from your 2019 tax return. The amount you’re eligible for will be automatically calculated based on your income when you apply.
Rental Supplement for Seniors - The Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER) program helps make rents affordable for BC seniors with low to moderate incomes. SAFER provides monthly cash payments to subsidize rents for eligible BC residents who are age 60 or over and who pay rent for their homes.
Canada Emergency Response Benefit - This program is now ended. Go to the website for more information about past payments or info about new programs.
BC Emergency Benefits for Workers - a tax-free, one time $1,000 payment for B.C. residents whose ability to work has been affected due to COVID-19.
Employment and Social Development Canada - More info about supports offered by the Government of Canada.
Métis Financial Corporation BC is offering a BC Métis COVID-19 Business Support Program. Loans will be interest free and available for up to $40,000. For an application form, please call their office toll free at 1 833-399-3926 or email admin@mfcbc.ca. Loan are up to $40,000 per business and funding will be comprised of a 25% contribution plus a 75% repayable loan. Loans will be payment-free and interest-free for the entire first year and loans will remain interest-free for the entirety of the program. Businesses have until 2025 to repay loan and there are no payroll requirements with this program.

BC Aboriginal Network on Disability Society (BCANDS) is offering the Indigenous Support for Student Learning Program (SSLP) for students across Canada. This program is a time-limited project for Indigenous students who have limited financial resources, including those students living with disabilities. Students must be of low-income, enrolled in formal education (online, remote, on-site), and actively attending. The SSLP is now accepting applications from eligible students across Canada to receive a laptop, disability related software, and hardware accessories. Their goal is to assist low-income Indigenous students and those with disabilities in their continued education and success. This program will run until March 31, 2021.
