Most Indigenous funding requires that you are a current member of a local Métis nation. You need to be able to get verification of your ancestry or provide a copy of your Métis card.
Each post-secondary institution will have a list of its own scholarships, bursaries & awards, so make sure you check their websites for information. Only funding available to Métis students regardless of post-secondary institution will be listed below.

The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society offers many different awards and scholarships. The Transfer Scholarship is for students transferring into a new post-secondary institution after two years of study ($5000 over two years). The Indigenous Student Awards are for Indigenous students working towards their Bachelors ($2500 annually) or Masters/Doctoral degrees ($5000 annually). If you are going into a teacher education program, there is an Indigenous Teacher Education Award ($5000 annually). The Apprenticeship/Trades Training/Certificates/Diplomas amount is $1,000 - programs a minimum of 7 continuous weeks OR $2000 - programs over 12 continuous weeks.

The North Island College Aboriginal Scholars program is a holistic and culturally-relevant program for Aboriginal students. The program strives to empower students through engaging them in the process of creating a self-constructed achievement plan, ensuring students have supports to enable them to complete their program, while also increasing the sense of community and Aboriginal awareness on campus. Students work with an Aboriginal educational advisor to create an achievement plan, based on their individual needs. The goals can be academic, spiritual, emotional and/or physical, with the overall aim of supporting students and providing life skills to help them during their educational journey and beyond. The students work with their advisor throughout the term to keep on track and also access services and supports that will help them achieve their goals. Students can apply for one term or the entire academic year. At the end of each term, successful students will earn a $250 scholarship.

It's funded by the Province of British Columbia and delivered by the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres. Indigenous students that are ordinarily resident in British Columbia and are enrolled full time in a recognized post-secondary university or college in a minimum two-year program are eligible to apply for a First Citizens Fund student bursary. The level of assistance will be determined by need and will reflect the amount of assistance received from other sources. The maximum level of assistance is $700/year for Band or Tribal Council funded students and $2,000/year for non-funded students.

This new scholarship is for Indigenous high school, college, or university students aged 17-30 of any gender entering or in a college or university program in journalism, communications, media, or tech in Canada. They offer one award of $10,000.

The Endowment Fund for Indigenous Post-Secondary Education was established to help support Indigenous youth seeking to enter or continue post-secondary education. The Endowment Fund is a yearly scholarship that is available to Indigenous youth (18‒29 years old) enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies. Their priority is for students demonstrating both financial need and academic excellence. The scholarship may be awarded for multiple years to support the studies of selected candidates. The application and all supporting documents are due by March 15th each year.

North Island Métis has created a colouring book. Every letter of the alphabet has a Métis themed colouring page. Each image includes a bit of background history about the word as well as Michif word translations and pronunciation. Pre-School Resources
The MNBC Imagination Library is a literacy program that focuses on Métis children 5 years of age and younger. Each child receives their own age-appropriate book each month. If you would like to register your children to receive books from the Imagination Library please complete the application form.

MNBC's Métis Early Years has created a learning resource called Learn with Louis. A new issue will be shared every Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
